Book With Me, Not a Credit Card Portal or an OTA

Same hotels. Same perks. A completely different trip.

Here is a question I get all the time. Why book with you when I can just book it myself through my credit card travel portal or a site like the big online booking engines? Fair question. On the surface it looks like the same hotel at the same price, so why add a person to the mix?

Here is the honest answer. The hotel might be the same. The price might be the same. Everything else is not. When you book with me you get a real human who plans around you, unlocks VIP treatment at the front desk and stays in your corner from the first idea to the moment you land back home. A portal cannot do that. A booking site definitely cannot do that. Let me break it down.

What a credit card portal actually is

Your premium card travel portal looks slick. It offers free breakfast, a resort credit and a nice points multiplier, so it feels like you are already getting the advisor treatment. You are not.

When you book through a card portal your reservation is a third party booking. That means the hotel sees a faceless channel, not a valued partner. When it is time to hand out upgrades and the good rooms, third party bookings sit at the bottom of the list. You can get the same free breakfast and still watch the upgrade go to someone else.

And when something goes sideways you are calling a call center. Different agent every time, no history, no relationship, reading from a script built for speed and not for you. If your flight melts down at 5am, that is who you are on hold with.

What an OTA actually is

Online booking sites are built to move volume. They are great at showing you a huge list and terrible at telling you which option is actually right for you. You become the travel agent. You do the research, you compare the rooms, you guess whether that beach view is worth the upcharge and you own every mistake.

On top of that, hotels pay a large commission to those sites and get very little relationship in return. So they have little reason to roll out the red carpet for a booking that came through a discount engine. No VIP tag. No amenity. No one advocating for you if the room is not ready or the reservation gets lost. If something breaks mid trip you are back in a support queue, not talking to someone who knows your name.

What booking with me actually is

This is where it gets good. I am a travel advisor with Fora, and that partnership plugs you into preferred relationships with thousands of hotels and resorts worldwide. When a hotel sees your reservation come through me you are flagged as a VIP from a trusted partner. That is not a marketing line. That is the reason my clients get treated differently at check in.

Here is what that unlocks for you:

  • VIP status at the property, so you are tagged as a guest the hotel wants to impress

  • Priority for room upgrades, above credit card and third party bookings, when inventory allows

  • Hotel credits to spend on dining, the spa or the bar, often on top of what the portal offered

  • Preferred rates and partner amenities like free breakfast, early check in or late check out when available

  • A real person handling the details, from dietary notes to connecting rooms to a quiet floor for a special occasion

Same hotel. Same nightly rate in most cases. A far better stay, because the booking came from a partner the hotel actually values. I have had clients book the exact property three times through a card portal and never see a single upgrade. Move that same booking through me and the upgrades start showing up. The travel industry still runs on relationships, and I bring the relationships.

And when you need me, you get me. One person who knows your travel style, remembers you like a corner room, knows it is your anniversary and can pick up the phone directly with the hotel. Not a call center. A direct line to the person who planned your trip.

No cookie cutter groups, ever

Here is something I feel strongly about. I do not run cookie cutter group trips. I do not have a pre packaged itinerary that I sell to everyone and hope it fits. Every trip I build starts with your needs, your pace, your budget and the way you actually like to travel.

Some clients want a five star base and a driver waiting at the curb. Some want a boutique room, a great local cafe and the freedom to wander. Some are traveling with a group that all want different things on the same trip. That is the job. I curate around the real people going, not around a template. A portal cannot ask you a single thoughtful question. A booking site cannot tell the difference between you and the next click. I can, and I do.

Sports travel is where I really earn my keep

If you are traveling for sport, this is the part that matters most. Sports travel is a different animal, and it is exactly where a portal or a booking site will let you down hard. Road closures, race day logistics, transfers that have to line up with a start line and hotels that sell out a year in advance the second a course is announced. No booking engine is going to warn you that the road to the climb closes at 11:30am or that you want to be at the start to catch the caravan before the race rolls through.

I know this because I have lived it. I planned my own Tour de France experience from the ground up. Arrival in Nice, morning rides through Monaco with a coffee stop on the Col d'Eze, the drive to Grenoble, race day timing down to the minute, even knowing where the nearest emergency bike support shop was in case something snapped. I have ridden the iconic French climbs myself, the Galibier, Ventoux, the Tourmalet, Hautacam and Annecy, and I have stood roadside at the Tour. That is not research I pulled off a website. That is firsthand experience I now build into trips for my clients.

The same brain applies to any endurance event. Marathons, HYROX, Ironman, big cycling weekends, domestic races and international ones. I handle hotel blocks, airfare coordination, ground transportation, custom booking pages for groups and concierge support on the ground. I know that where you sleep and how you get to the venue can make or break race day, and I plan around it. A portal is guessing. I am not.

And it costs you nothing

Here is the part people do not expect. I do not charge a planning fee. All of this, the VIP treatment, the upgrades, the credits, the custom planning, the race day logistics and the direct support while you travel, comes at no extra cost to you. The hotels and partners compensate me, so you get an expert in your corner for free. You were going to book the trip anyway. Book it with me and get more out of it for the same money.

Let's plan your next trip

So here is the real comparison. A credit card portal gives you a third party booking and a call center. An online booking site gives you a giant list and makes you do the work. I give you VIP treatment, a trip built entirely around you, real support the whole way and firsthand sports travel expertise, all for the same price and no planning fee.
